Twitter Facebook LinkedIn Flipboard 0 Built In Post Scheduling & Role Controls To The Rescue! Facebook Breaking News! Hey, Kim here… Facebook just released scheduled and automated posts and administrative role controls! Both of these features may not sound like much but I assure you they are ground breaking and add some functionality that was really impacting results. Simple example? Now you can hire an outsourcer to help with your page and they can pre-set you up with a month’s worth of content in advance, that isn’t penalized by EdgeRank (as far as we know)… and, because you can control their access… they can’t delete your freakin page like some have done to businesses before! I read a good report this morning on some of the applications of this in Peter Maxwell’s Timeline Explosion. I will say though that his report is kinda “high level” though so understand that if you pick it up. (He makes 2 really good WordPress plugins both of which are kickass and related to Facebook.) New Facebook Schedule Post Feature: (Ignore the green “Buffer” button, that is a browser add-on, and not what we are talking about here.) By clicking on the little “clock” icon in the lower left corner of the status update box, you will open a “set time” feature. Once you schedule something into the future, the “Post” button becomes a “Schedule” button. You can schedule image shares and more. (read more on Facebook’s help page) (Bug note: Currently the image share feature ignored my scheduling and the post appeared actually post-dated on my business page. I’m certain these are quirks that (once reported enough) will be fixed.) We can not yet confirm this (too early) but it is assume that like all other Facebook native tools, this scheduler will have NO EdgeRank (visibility penalty) unlike other methods of scheduling posts to Facebook such as Hootsuite & Buffer. New Facebook Administrative Role Controls: The new role controls allow any manager to adjust the role of any other admin. A manager has full control. Anyone acting as your “if I lose my account, you’re my backup” admin of your page needs to be a manager. (Usually this is a spouse or legal business partner.) Other outsourcers should be set to only have the control they need and usually should not be managers unless they are building the page for you originally (and then you should demote them later). Summary The new Timeline for Business Pages changed how you do Facebook Marketing. In the past you just had to set up a Fan Gate on a default Page tab and you didn’t have to worry too much about content other than the marketing blasts that you would do to everyone that ”Liked” you in the past. Well, that approach doesn’t work anymore and Facebook’s Timeline for Business Pages changed the game. The problem is that is now all about “engagement” and “content”. Fortunately, once you take what you learn in Timeline for Business Pages and add these tools now you’re able to achieve something that more effective (less penalized by EdgeRank), more engaging (pre-schedule picture shares), more time efficient (scheduling!) and safer (less risk of your outsourcer blackmailing you). Win! Have you been utilizing post scheduling on your Facebook Business Page? Will you use the new built in scheduler? Have you tried it out yet? Do you feel the role manager tools will help you?
