It’s always a good idea to have a business page on Facebook to spread the word about your company – and the key to reaching a larger number of people is to get your followers to like, comment on, and share your posts. That way your stuff ends up on the news feeds of thousands of fresh consumers that have never even heard of your company. Here are four ways to get your followers to boost your Facebook views via shares, likes and comments:
Content Type
While plain text posts tend to draw the most comments, photos get the most likes and shares. If you’re looking to get a lot of publicity through comments, ask a question or post a slightly controversial opinion. With the latter, you might lose some followers but the reward can often be worth the risk.
Interesting
It can be easy enough to initially attract followers, but only about 10% of users return to a page after they’ve liked it. Be sure to keep your content fresh, interesting and relevant to ensure your followers will continue “liking” your page. Relevant is another key element; your followers like your page because they are interested in what you have to offer. If you fill their news feeds up with posts and pictures they couldn’t care less about, your business will lose some credibility and ultimately present and future followers.
Time of Day
A lot of people are on Facebook all day long, but most consumers don’t check their news feeds until their lunch break or after they get home from work. Shoot to post around 12pm or in the 6-7pm range. Keep your best, most interesting posts for the weekends when the most people will see them – Saturdays and Sundays are the heaviest Facebook traffic days.
Just Ask
People generally respond positively to prompts. Simply including a phrase such as, “tell us your thoughts” or “like if this post made you smile” can greatly increase the number of likes, shares and comments on a single post. Most consumers love to be told what to do – as evidenced by the effectiveness of a call-to-action at the end of an advertisement.
Maintaining a Facebook page for your business can be frustrating if no one seems to care about your content, but by posting interesting and relevant content during peak Facebook usage times you can greatly increase traffic through your page. And remember: taking chances on posts can sometimes yield the greatest rewards.
