Author of “Your Customer Creation Equation: Unexpected Website Formulas of The Conversion Scientist” Brian Massey is the founder of Conversion Sciences, a company that specializes in optimizing websites to turn more revenue and leads from existing visitors. The speaker, columnist, teacher and self-proclaimed Conversion Scientist has helped dozens of businesses to change their online strategies to grow their bottom line.
As an expert in refining websites, we asked the Conversion Scientist Brian Massey, “What you think the highly targeted conversion optimization landscape will be like in the next 5 years?”
“In five years, we’ll have tools unlike anything we see today. Much of what we do by hand will be done in automated fashion. More data will be available and more data will be generated by a magnitude of that we have today.
And the kind of marketer that rises will also be very different. Scott Brinker writes eloquently of what he calls the Martec – the Technical Marketer. He believes that the tech budget for CMOs will outpace that of the CTO. Marketers will keep up and will have to keep up.
In 5 years, marketers will be prized for their insight, not their creativity.
They will read analytics like tea leaves in the bottom of a cup. They will understand human behavior by watching humans interact with their online properties. They will turn numbers and graphs and trends into meaningful narratives that drive smart business decisions.
They will use statistics and modeling software in the same why they use Microsoft
Word today. They will be the scouts for the organization, mapping the way forward and discovering new territory. They will be sought after and well-paid.
It’s a good time to be a digital marketer. Crack open those math books.”

Do you agree with Brian that statistics and modeling will become commonplace in the next 5 years of marketing?
