We asked Larry Oliver, President of FileHold Systems, a few questions about his company and view of the markets they serve.

GetApp: How would you describe your role in the company?

My name is Larry Oliver and I am responsible for ensuring the company has adequate funding, business partnerships and focus to create and deploy a document management software solution that effectively solves customer business problems

GetApp: Can you briefly present your management team?

Larry Oliver – President: Larry has worked in technology sales and management for nearly 35 years. He has been an entrepreneur for the last 20 years as the principal of his own consultancy company. He founded, and successfully guided a startup technology company, Real Data Systems, from start up to profitability and subsequently sold to a public company. Larry has a BSc from the University of North Dakota.

Dr. Jacek Lipowski – Chief Technology Officer: Dr. Jacek Lipowski has worked in both pure computer technology research and as a technology leader in several different industries. Jacek is responsible for the company’s overall technology roadmap and product development execution. Jacek was Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Real Data Systems. He was also CTO at Epic Data where he was responsible for the technology and product vision of the company. Jacek obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the Silesian Technical University, Gliwice, Poland.

Russ Beinder, PMP – Director of Professional Services: Russ Beinder is an entrepreneur, a seasoned business analyst, computer technologist and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). For the last 20 years he has used computer technology to help organizations solve business problems. After graduating from University Russ joined Real Data Systems, where he took over technical problem troubleshooting, software development of custom applications and business consulting. When Real Data was acquired by Epic Data, Russ quickly moved up their management structure to become the Director of Product Development. Most recently he was a Principal Consultant of IT at SAP and lead a globally dispersed application development and architecture team to provide technology leadership. At FileHold Russ supports the sales and development team to bring best business and technology practice solutions to our customers. Russ is a graduate of Computer Science at the University of Victoria.

Kevin McArthur – Vice President of Direct Sales: Kevin McArthur has spent the last 10 years in various sales, consulting and managerial roles in the electronic document management domain. Kevin is responsible for all US based direct sales activities. Helping customers make purchase decisions on complex document management software is much more of a consultation process than a sales process. Kevin excels at giving clients expert advice on electronic document management processes that result in the paperless office. Kevin’s formal education is from Texas A&M University, he has gained certification as CDIA (Certified Document Imaging Architect).

GetApp: Are you a Cloud or a Software-as-a-Service company?

FileHold is both. Many of our customers have security concerns and choose to purchase a FileHold perpetual license and install FileHold on their own servers on premise. Other customers choose to use a third party hosting facility and pay on a per user bases. FileHold also has business partners who host FileHold and sell is as a service that includes their best practices expertise.

GetApp: How do you use and promote usage of Cloud Computing?

The FileHold go to market strategy is Search Engine Optimization. We promote our SaaS and on premise solution on our web site and through our partner web sites and through market leaders such as GetApp.

GetApp: What are the points of difference of your solutions?

FileHold software was designed from the ground up to be affordable in a rather expensive product category. FileHold is feature rich yet affordable, easy to install and friendly to use… Costs are kept low by doing all installs and support using remote technologies. Go paperless; get in compliance with FileHold document and records management software.

GetApp: How would you like to be evaluated by a prospect?

We like prospects to compare our value proposition. Feature for feature we deliver very high value. We install FileHold in a matter of hours when many similar products can take days. FileHold support is outstanding, we guide customers through the technology, and product features with well-documented materials.

GetApp: Why do your customers buy from you?

FileHold is an “Off the Shelf” (COTS) enterprise grade document and records management solution at an affordable price that solves document proliferation and Intellectual Property protection problems.

GetApp: Can you mention some of your key clients?

GetApp: What do you see as the key trend emerging in the industry?

To collaborate on document approval and processes electronically as we begin to eliminate expensive paper based processes. Electronic review and approval of documents with electronic signatures is a huge business productivity tool.

GetApp: What is THE most important message you feel you should get across to someone considering buying your solutions?

Get a management mandate to ”Go Paperless” – it is often the executives themselves who will be reluctant to bring disciple to their management of electronic information. Start small with a department that can clear benefit such as HR or AP and grow the system. As other departments see the benefits of an organized and searchable library they too will want to participate. For many companies the move from paper to electronic information takes a work culture shift.
