Beyonce will be performing for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. After her performance at President Obama’s Inauguration and rumors of lip synching, all eyes will be on her. However, the show is said to have ups-and-downs and has the potential to be a great show.

Fans of football watch the Super Bowl for the game of course, but a large portion of viewers every year watch it for the commercials and the halftime show. Over the years, there have been some incredible performances and there were some that were terrible. Some of the performance and moments of the halftime shows are still remembered and referenced.

Michael Jackson performed for Super Bowl XXVII and was a huge hit. He started dressed in a military outfit and then did a two second costume change during a song transition. Throughout the performance, and even before he started singing, the crowd went crazy.

Paul McCartney performed for Super Bowl XXXIX and was a huge hit. He played a piano and had a band. There was no need for much more than that to be remembered as one of the best halftime shows.

The Super Bowl following the events of September 11th had a halftime show performed by U2 and it was excellent. The show included songs that gave tribute to the tragedy.

The Black Eyed Peas performed in 2011 and the group left the audience disappointed. In addition to The Black Eyed Peas, Slash made an appearance to perform ‘Sweet Child ‘O Mine.’ Fergie also did an impression of Axl Rose that left viewers unimpressed.

And then there is one of the most remembered: halftime show when Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson performed together in 2004. Everyone remembers how Timberlake pulled off Jackson’s bra at the end of the song and everyone watching was shocked and couldn’t believe that it had actually happened.

We will see if Beyonce’s performance will be as memorable as some of the past halftime shows.
