Monday night on “The Voice” was the first night of live performances. Unlike previous parts of the competition, this episode only focused on two teams: Team Blake and Team Adam. There are 20 performers left in the competition and the first 10 performed last night in hopes of making the cut and advancing to the Top 12. The show started with a performance of Flor Rida’s “How I Feel” featuring Christina Aguilera and then the night of performances was off.

Team Blake’s Shelbie Z was up first and performed Reba McEntire’s “Fancy” because Blake thought the song would show her strengths. She really impressed the judges and sang it similarly to Reba. The coaches gave her a lot of praise and Adam called the performance flawless.

James Wolpert from Team Adam sang Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You.” James had had a not so great performance last week and this was a chance to redeem himself. And he did just that and more. He left the coaches in awe.

Nic Hawk of Team Blake sang “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke, Pharrell and T.I. He sang all of the parts of the song: the singing, rapping, and dancing. He was able to sing every part of the song and blew the judges away.

Team Blake was up once again with Ray Boudreaux singing Marc Broussard’s “Home.” Ray has a lot of soul in his voice and this song was perfect to showcase that. It was also fitting for him because it kind of told Ray’s story and is in the genre of music that he enjoys the most. His performance was definitely one of the best of the night.

Austin Jencks, also from Blake’s team, sang “She Talks to Angels” by The Black Crowes. Austin always seems to surprise his audience and once again he did it. He also has a way with connecting with the audience through his performance and because of that, this song was perfect for him and he did a great job.

Adam’s team was up once again with Grey singing Paramore’s “Still Into You.” Adam’s mission was to have her do something different so that everyone would forget that she was a sweet wedding singer. This song did just that and also showed her energy. Christina gave her a little bit of criticism, but Adam loved everything about how she performed her song.

Will Chaplin, also from Team Adam, sang One Republic’s “Secrets.” This was also up there for one of the best performances of the night and was one of the most emotional. He had a lot of emotion but there was also a significant amount of energy especially near the end of the song which really worked.

Team Adam’s Preston Pohl sang “Nothing on You” by B.o.B and Bruno Mars. He sang both parts of the song and brought a lot of soul to it. It was a great performance.

Team Blake’s Cole Vosbury sang Rod Stewart’s “Maggie May.” This was Cole’s chance of redeeming himself after losing to Johnny Gray in the battle rounds. Blake chose the song because it had a style that fit Cole and it definitely showed in his performance because all of the judges loved it.

The final performance of the night went to Team Adam’s Tessanne Chin singing Jimmy Cliff’s “Many Rivers to Cross.” Tesanne started her singing career by singing backup for Jimmy Cliff, and Adam chose it because he wanted to pick something that she would be passionate about. She was so passionate during her performance, she brought herself to tears and left the audience in shock and awe. Cee Lo made the comment that she is the best in the competition. Adam had definitely saved the best for last.

Tuesday night the live performances continue with Teams Cee Lo’s and Christina’s.
