The trailer for the sequel to “The Hunger Games”, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” premiered last night at MTV Movie awards. It is based on the Suzanne Collin’s second novel in the series that takes place in a totalitarian society, Panem, which is broken up into twelve districts and the Capitol, which holds all of the power.

The film picks up shortly after the first film ended. Katniss and Peeta won the hunger games and are on a victory tour around Panem. However, the Capitol is less than pleased with Katniss because her defiance has inspired others to stand up against them. She has sparked the fire so to speak. The trailer focuses on this part of the film, but in the book, that is only the first few chapters. At the end of the teaser trailer, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) states that Katniss’s “species must be eradicated” and when he refers to her species, he means all of the victors of the previous Hunger Games. And this leads into the main focus of the second book, which is the next Hunger Games, where one female and one male victor of each district must compete once again in the competition.

Oscar-winer Jennifer Lawrence will once again play the heroine, Katniss Everdeen, and the rest of the cast will also be returning. “The Hunger Games” was very successful and the majority of the fans of the original books were pleased with the adaptation and are looking forward to “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” The producers are also talking about possibly making the third and final movie, “Mockingjay”, into two parts, but that has not been confirmed yet. “Catching Fire” will be in theaters starting November 22 and is a highly anticipated film. Everyone is waiting to see if it is as good as the first and if it lives up to the book.
