The Simpsons-Futurama crossover episode has fans of both shows excited, and Animation Domination has released the couch gag clip in advance. Shown below, it’s an early peek at what can be expected from the episode itself.
Of course, the couch gag itself is iconic — so much so that there’s a TV Trope named after it, encompassing all similar credit scenes. Simpsons fans lean in during the opening scenes to see just what Bart will be writing his sentences about this time, and to see if the writers truly can come up with yet another funny way to depict a family sitting down on a couch together.

Anxious for more information about the new episode that mixes together two Matt Groening creations? Here’s the episode description from IMDB:
The Simpsons meet the Planet Express crew, who have come to Springfield in the present to stop them from destroying the future.
According to TV Guide, Futurama aired its last episode in 2013 — or, at least, its last episode until this one airs on Sunday — which may explain the credit line:
A show out of ideas teams up with a show out of episodes.
Futurama fans should also keep their eyes open throughout the episode. The executive producer, Al Jean, says that it’s packed with interesting Easter eggs, references, and other tidbits for the well-versed fan.
We put in references to just about every Futurama side character, and it’s filled with little Easter eggs. If you’re a fan of the show, you should pay close attention.
Whether or not it’s true that one show is out of ideas and the other is out of episodes (don’t forget, Futurama has ended and then been revived more than once before), the fans don’t seem to be walking away. The Simpsons-Futurama airs Sunday, and audiences are waiting to tune in.
