The Shark Tank was filled with holiday spirit and a surplus of positive energy when cancer survivor, Tommy Holl, walked through its doors. Dressed in a red spandex onesie, a white collar, mittens, and a hat, the young executive assistant bore a striking resemblance to the famous “Elf on the Shelf” character. Tommy started The Real Elf as a way to spread holiday cheer. He creates digital Elfgrams, attends corporate and media events in person, and also makes himself available to take Elfie (selfie) pictures whenever possible. Because he can’t be everywhere at once, Tommy came to the Shark Tank looking for a solution to grow and scale his business while investing in new technology to help him increase his reach.

Looking for a partner willing to invest $125,000 in exchange for 25% equity in The Real Elf, Tommy is hopeful that he can find a Shark that shares his affinity for holiday celebrations and will help him to increase his virtual presence and global reach. Currently, Tommy has managed to mass over 10,000 social media followers through his energetic personality in the role of The Real Elf. He also believes in giving back and supporting cancer support groups and foundations such as Imerman Angels. Because he is a cancer survivor himself, it’s very important to him to give back in supporting the organizations that helped him through his diagnosis and treatment. Ideally, Tommy is hoping to partner with an investor that can help him grow and support this mission.

Although many of the Sharks love his personality, they don’t see The Real Elf as an investible business. Luckily, Barbara Corcoran likes Tommy so much and wants him to succeed that she is willing to structure a deal with The Real Elf. Barbara will loan Tommy $75,000 and also invest $50,000 in cash for a total investment of $125,000 in exchange for 25% equity in his company. She also asks that he donates half of his sales to charities such as Imerman Angels since they have played such a big role in his life. He quickly agrees and is excited to partner with Barbara.

What do you think about Tommy’s partnership with Barbara? If you were a Shark would you have invested in The Real Elf? Start the conversation in the comments below!
