Ridley Scott has released the first full-length trailer for  Exodus: Gods and Kings. The movie trailer went live on YouTube early Wednesday morning. The trailer, which tells the story of the biblical character Moses, is epic in its own right.

This is the first in-depth look at the directors newest movie, and from what we can tell, it looks like an action-packed blockbuster that is also filled with emotional moments.

Exodus: Gods and Kings hits theaters on December 12, which likely means more trailers will be arriving in the near future.

The movie, which stars  Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, John Turturro, Aaron Paul, Ben Mendelsohn, Sigourney Weaver and Ben Kingsley, was produced by 20th Century Fox.

As a refresher course for anyone who might not remember the story of Moses. The bible claims that he led an uprising against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, setting 600,000 slaves on an epic journey of escape from Egypt, while avoiding a deadly and terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

The Hollywood version of the story is full of 3D effects and a score that offers a nice backdrop for the bible’s story.

This is the second epic bible story to be released in 2014. The first was the Darren Aronofsky directed Noah, which starred Russell Crowe as the famed Ark builder. Audiences fell in love with that movies action, but many complained that the Hollywood version took too many liberties with the original story.

Biblical storytelling is a cash cow in Hollywood these days, now we just have to wait and see if Ridley Scott stays true to the heart of the story, or turns the movie into something only Hollywood would dream up.
