The Broadway show Peter and the Starcatcher had its last performance at the Brooks Atkinson Theater on Sunday, January 20th. Starcatcher first premiered on March 28th 2012 and later transferred to the Books Atkinson. The show is a stage adaption of the novel by Dave Barry and tells the story of Peter Pan. It serves almost as a prequel to Peter Pan and focuses on an orphaned boy played by Adam Chandler Berat and how he got his name and became Peter Pan.

It isn’t a musical, but is a play with music. There are two songs throughout the duration of the play and includes theatrical storytelling and stagecraft. There is a small cast of only twelve actors and a very simple set. When the actors are not a part of the scene. For example, the actors can become a part of one of two ships involved in the play or a part of the scenery. Imagination and an open mind is a very important for the play.

Peter and the Starcatcher was very successful while on Broadway. The show had nine Tony Award nominations and won Best Costume Design, Best Sound Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Scenic Design, and Best Featured Actor (Christian Borle who played Black Stache). The show has received a lot of accaim and is a Broadway play like no other.

The actors of this production took their final bows at the Brooks Atkins Theater on January 20th. However, Peter and the Starcatcher will be going Off-Broadway and will start performing at New World Stages on March 18th with the original creative team and there will be a national tour in August. So if anyone wanted to see it and didn’t get a chance, or thinks they would enjoy the show, there is a chance to see it Off-Broadway. The show is filled with a lot of heart. It will make you laugh and make you cry and is truly a fantastic show.
