Mariah Carey reportedly is signing a Las Vegas residency deal at Caesars Palace. Page Six reports that the singer is still in negotiations, and that the deal will be worth more than Britney Spears’ two-year $30 million contract. Carey could be belting out her hits by the holidays in 2015.
She’ll be in an elite group if the deal goes through. Other artists who have scored residency deals in Las Vegas are Cher, Celine Dion, and Bette Midler.
Most recently Carey wrapped up a mini tour in Asia called “The Elusive Chanteuse Show”. She also made headlines when she didn’t make it to a taped performance for last month’s Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting. Allegedly the reason she missed her sound check was to take a call from her divorce attorney. She did end up singing live for NBC.
Besides Mariah Carey planning a Las Vegas residency, she just bought a mobile home for $1.8 million. The fancy ride is 1,200 square feet and boasts a dance club, 15-foot custom couch, a marble kitchen with high ceiling, a VIP room and a second floor.
Carey and her ex Nick Cannon have three-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan. Cannon confirmed their split in October after months of speculation. At the time E! News exclusively reported that the 44-year-old songstress had “started the divorce process” with a source adding that the singer was “getting all her ducks in a row.”
Another source said that she has been frustrated and no longer has the happy family unit she wants and “can’t sleep.”
Nick has kept positive on Mariah in interviews. When asked about his Christmas plans the America’s Got Talent host replied, “Always focus on family. We’ll forever be family. At the same time, we’re there for our children, making them the No. 1 priority and understanding they’re loved and can have an amazing holiday.”
Do you think Mariah Carey getting a Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace is a good idea?
