Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have filed for divorce from one another following seven years of marriage. There doesn’t appear to be any hard feelings between the former pair, but apparently they have a new issue to take care of.

Carey and Cannon are being sued by their former nanny, who claims that she was fired by the singer for showing her twins Monroe and Moroccan too much affection. Let’s backtrack to February 2014 when Mariah Carey claimed that she fires nannies for showing her children too much affection.

Watch:

She told the Power 105 host, “Unfortunately I have to have nannies but I’m very hands on. I go through nannies like this [snaps fingers] and I hate to do that but I have to, because if they try to make themselves more important in the baby’s mind than me… [makes cutting motion over throat]. I just brought a girl back home with me from Puerto Rico and she’s here.”

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are being sued by a former nanny named Simonette DaCosta who says that she was the Carey-Cannon’s full-time nanny when the children were still babies. She claims to have bathed, comforted and fed the twins, but Carey didn’t take too kindly to any of it. TMZ reports:

DaCosta claims the singer berated her for showing too much affection. Translation, it’s pretty clear she’s alleging Mariah was jealous because the kids liked their nanny way too much. DaCosta also claims she was worked too hard … putting in lots of OT — sometimes 100 hours a week.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are no longer together, but will have to battle it out with Simonette DaCosta’s lawyer in order to try and settle this matter. It appears to be pretty cut and dry, considering that Carey has already outed herself as someone who doesn’t care for people getting close to her children. Perhaps the former nanny learned that Mariah Carey signed a deal for a Las Vegas residency and wants a piece of that pie? What do you think of all of this?
