Katy Perry has been rehearsing for her Super Bowl halftime performance and insiders say she is going to include a jab at Taylor Swift during one of her songs. According to Hollywood Life the “Dark Horse” singer wants to “show she is the biggest female act.”
“Katy is in complete rehearsal mode for her Feb. 1. Super Bowl performance, she wants to make it feel like a complete party and something that will be remembered forever. She wants to make a statement with her performance and show that she is the biggest female act in the world and she wants to show that to everyone including Taylor, who she has a feud with. In Katy’s eyes, no one can compete on her level.”
The insider continues, “Katy will be doing something on stage during her performance that will be directed towards Taylor. She is working on it to be a visual or a lyric related jab.”
So why would Katy Perry plan a Super Bowl jab at Swift? It Was Taylor Swift’s Rolling Stone interview that started the feud. Swift was speaking about her single “Bad Blood” and revealed she had a frenemy that “tried to sabotage an entire arena tour“.
She said, “For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life? She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy!
“It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”
Perry later tweeted “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…”
Diplo has also been on the defense of Perry. In November he dissed Swift saying she needed a “booty.” He also went on to create a meme of Taylor wearing short shorts with the words “Get Taylor Swift a Booty Campaign!”
Katy Perry shouldn’t worry. Perry has come off a hot tour. She dominated the weekly Hot Tours tally with more than $42 million in ticket sales from her Prismatic tour in Australia and New Zealand.
She was last spotted taking the New York subway on New Year’s Eve with Rita Ora and Friends. Posting a photo via Instagram she wrote: “A train squad game strongé.”
If it’s true that Katy Perry will make a Super Bowl jab directed at Taylor Swift, will you be looking out for it?
