‘The Interview’ release is actually happening! Sony pictures has announced that the Seth Rogen film will come out in select theaters across the nation on Christmas day.
The film which sees Rogen and James Franco attempting to assassinate Kim Jong-un has caused a ruckus, and has generated a lot of attention this month. The release of ‘The Interview’ was up in the air, after a hacking attack from ‘The Guardians of Peace’, and a threatening message that evoked 9/11.
Sony has released the following statement regarding ‘The Interview’ release. The message reads:
“We have never given up on releasing ‘The Interview’ and we’re excited our movie will be in a number of theaters on Christmas Day. At the same time, we are continuing our efforts to secure more platforms and more theaters so that this movie reaches the largest possible audience.
I want to thank our talent on ‘The Interview’ and our employees, who have worked tirelessly through the many challenges we have all faced over the last month. While we hope this is only the first step of the film’s release, we are proud to make it available to the public and to have stood up to those who attempted to suppress free speech.”
‘The Interview’ was bound to come out in some way, shape, or form. The Hollywood film’s production budget was $44 million, and from a business standpoint it makes no sense to trash the movie. The controversy the film has sparked will also turn in to profit, being people will see it just to know what all the rage was about.
