Jay Leno will be leaving the Tonight Show, and there have been several reports that NBC is planning on having Jimmy Fallon succeed him. Jay Leno is supposed to be leaving by 2014 and Fallon will take over September 2014. Since Fallon is currently hosting Late Night, he also needs to be replaced, and since he is moving to The Tonight Show, Saturday Night’s Live’s Seth Meyers is said to be succeeding Fallon. So there will be a lot of changes for late night TV, and it is kind of like musical chairs. Meyers was actually one of the people that might have replaced Regis Philbin on his morning show, but the job ended up going to Michael Strahan. The executive producer of Late Night, who is also an executive producer of Saturday Night Live, Lorne Michaels, said that although he does not have control of who will be appointed as the host, he wants Meyers to be the one to succeed Fallon.

There are some concerns that Fallon will be replacing Leno. Fallon has a much younger audience than Leno’s Tonight Show, audience. However, in an interview in April’ GQ, Fallon showed no real interest to host the show, however he seems to have had a change of heart. The late night shows have been some of the best ratings for NBC. The network has had some difficulty in early morning and prime time hours. Despite some of the problems, Leno is ahead of ABC’s Kimmel and CBS’s Letterman when it comes to viewers and advertiser-coveted young adults.

There is no reports of what Seth Meyers has to say about the change and about being a part of another show. Fans of SNL Seth Meyers are thrilled that Meyers will be hosting the show. He has good comedic timing and will be a great host.
