Mark Ruffalo got the role as the Hulk after Edward Norton decided not to return to the role due to creative differences. Ruffalo’s first appearance was in the Avengers film, which ended up being the third highest grossing film of all time. His interpretation of the Hulk was such a huge hit with critics and fans that he is said to have much more screen time in the sequel, and there are now talks of a stand alone film.
The Incredible Hulk has had several adaptations, most notably the 1970s television show starring Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk, the 2003 film titled Hulk starring Erica Bana, the 2008 The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton, and the recent Avengers starring Mark Ruffalo.
Hopefully we’ll get to see a new stand alone Hulk film with Ruffalo sometime in the near future, his performance as Banner was one of the best parts of the Avengers film.
You can see Ruffalo as the Hulk in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron, set to be released May 1, 2015.
