Brief footage has been released of Michael Douglas, starring alongside Paul Rudd, in Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man.
In ABC’s “Marvel: 75 Years, From Pulp to Pop,” special, a brief highlight segment shows Douglas and Rudd in the new film. The footage is a mixture of behind the scenes shots and a few dailies, with a short glimpse of the Ant Man costume which is what gives the character the ability to shrink down to the size of an ant.

Here is the official synopsis for Ant-Man:
“Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”
Ant-Man has gone through a long and arduous journey to get to the screen. Originally, director Edgar Wright (Shaun of The Dead) was slotted to direct the film. Wright, a die-hard fan of the character, had been directing a film version since 2003. However, Wright dropped out of the production in 2014 after creative differences with Marvel Studios.
Director Peyton Reed stepped in for Wright and the film got back on track. Reed directed the films Yes Man, The Break-Up, and Bring It On, and will most certainly bring a more comedic element to the film. The screenplay is credited to six writers. Aside from Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd, Ant-Man will also star Haley Atwell, Michael Pena, and Judy Greer.
Ant-Man is slated to open July 17, 2015, and it will complete Phase 2 of the Marvel Universe.
