Charlize Theron And Sean Penn joined forces to help raise $6 million for the actor’s charity J/P Haitian Relief Organization on Saturday night. The pair, who usually shy away from being photographed together, happily posed for pictures at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills. The “I Am Sam” star started the organization following the devastating Haiti earthquake in 2010.

Guests that attended the Annual Sean Penn & Friends Help Haiti Home Gala included new parents Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, Reese Witherspoon, Adrian Brody, Ben Stiller and stylist Rachel Zoe.

The biggest guest was Bill Clinton, who received a standing ovation. Chris Martin provided the music and performed solo. The rest of Coldplay were in the U.K.

Martin joked, “I spent so much money at last year’s auction, I had to get a second job.”

Charlize Theron and Sean Penn sat with Clinton, who spoke passionately about the organization’s work. He encouraged guests to bid generously for the auction, which included a trip to Haiti with himself and Penn.

Celebrities later shared news of the charity event on Twitter. Reese Witherspoon thanked the designers who dressed her for the event.

Rachel Zoe said she was honored to curate.

The gala raised $6 million to continue efforts to rebuild Haiti after it was hit by an earthquake five years ago.

Penn told Vogue, “It’s essential support. At a certain point when there’s a disaster or a conflict in an area, there are grant monies for organizations like ours but they dry up pretty quickly when you move into a development phase and so this particular night is essential to keep the work that we do going.”

Charlize Theron and Sean Penn are reported to be engaged. Last month, tabloids said Penn popped the question to Theron during a recent trip to Paris, France. However at the Sean Penn & Friends gala, the actress wore a ring on her right hand rather than her ring finger, causing more speculation on the duo’s engagement status.
