Twitter Facebook LinkedIn Flipboard 0 Yes, you read it right. Ben Affleck will star as the Batman in the “Man of Steel” sequel. Warner Bros. announced on Thursday that Affleck would star as the Dark Knight in a new film featuring Batman and Superman together. Director Zack Snyder at Comic-Con International in San Diego revealed the DC Comics superhero tandem. Snyder, who will direct the new movie, stated that Affleck offered an “interesting counter-balance” to Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent. According to Snyder, “Affleck has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne.” The movie will also feature Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Diane Lane as Martha Kent. The production is set to begin in 2014 and will be released July 17, 2015. Although the choice for the Batman role is rather unorthodox, Affleck has experience portraying a superhero. He played a blind Marvel crime fighter in ‘Daredevil’ and 1950s Superman actor George Reeves in ‘Hollywoodland’. The announcement was followed by a mixed reaction from fans. Some were confused with the choice, whereas others seemed downright angry taking to Twitter with their complaints and some with suggestions for better candidates to play the role. This however, is not the first time people have misjudged casting choices, as Heath Ledger was viewed as a bad-casting choice for ‘The Joker’. What are your thoughts on Zack Snyder’s casting choice?
