Agents Of SHIELD has found its next villain in Drea De Matteo. The popular Marvel series is set to return soon, and the latest casting could get some fans even more excited for the second half of the season.
Her role on the show is said to be Karla Faye Gideon, a Gifted woman with a grudge to bear against S.H.I.E.L.D. She joins forces with Cal, Skye’s father, and has her sights aimed at taking down the SHIELD organization.
The mid-season finale was host to one of the most shocking moments of television, and fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the hit ABC show. Skye was last seen obtaining powers that she did not know she had, and the action is constantly picking up on the show.
Prior to joining Agents of SHIELD, Drea De Matteo has been nominated for multiple Emmy Awards, and has starred in popular shows such as The Sopranos and Sons Of Anarchy.
Speaking on adding Matteo to the cast, executive producer Jeph Loeb said “We’re thrilled to have Drea join us as yet another great villain to challenge our cast. We relished the opportunity to work with her in such a menacing role.”
The character of Karla Faye Gideon may be recognizable to some comic book fans as a supporting character from the Daredevil series. She first appeared in the 2005 Daredevil: Redemption series by David Hine and Michael Gaydos, after the death of her young son Bradley. Years later, she was saved by Daredevil as a victim of domestic abuse.
Her connection from Daredevil to Agents Of SHIELD is certainly up for speculation, but it does make fans wonder whether she will be appearing in the upcoming Daredevil series on Netflix as well. Daredevil is the first of four Marvel series on Netflix, and after debuting the promo and trailer recently, the show will debut on April 10th.
Agents Of SHIELD will return with Drea De Matteo on Tuesday, March 3rd, although it is unclear when she will enter the series. Are you excited about this casting?
