Aaron Tveit’s “We Are Never Getting Back Together” cover of the Taylor Swift song released a year ago. In case you’ve never heard it or you want to remember how beautiful Tveit sounds in the recording, the cover’s a great listen in honor of Throwback Thursday.

Tveit, 30, is best known for his performances as Mike Warren in USA Network’s series Graceland and Enjolras in the film adaptation of Les Misérables. He also starred in the Off-Broadway production of Next to Normal as Gabe and Broadway’s Catch Me If You Can as Frank Abagnale Jr.

Aaron Tveit’s cover of Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Getting Back Together” is from his album The Radio in My Head: Live at 54 Below. The album reached No. 6 on Billboard’s “Top Heatseekers” chart and No. 49 on “Top Independent Albums” chart.

When Tveit performed his recorded cabaret show at 54 Below in New York City, most of his songs were Broadway hits. He noticed that this made his set emotionally heavy, and he decided to include “We Are Never Getting Back Together” to lighten the mood and appease his pop loving fans.

Tveit described his performance of the crowd pleaser to Entertainment Tonight. “It’s interesting, a lot of my friends and family thought that was the moment I kind of showed everyone my humor; the silly side of me that friends and family know so well, so that could be what people were responding to. I have a big sense of humor, and people who know me know that silly side of me, so moving forward, I think it gives me the freedom and confidence to do more of that.”

Even if Aaron Tveit’s cover of the Taylor Swift song was a joke and a way to show the singer’s sense of humor, fans have admitted and swooned that it’s a sultry and enjoyable joke.
