A New Entrepreneur’s Anthem

Music is a huge part of my life. If you know me well you know that I love to surround myself with different styles of music. I even created a Social Media Playlist once. A lot of my connections on Twitter and other networks have come about through conversations regarding bands and musical styles (looking at you Frank Dickinson).

Another huge part of my life is the fact that I’m an entrepreneur. I run Empty Jar Marketing and a lot of my time is spent on self-motivation and trying to find ways to get smarter and better at what I do. Learning to make every day count.

Bayside, a undervalued band that I’ve been fond of for years, has written what I consider to be the new anthem for entrepreneurs. It’s the title track off their newest album Killing Time. It’s all about not only saying you’ll make the most of every day, but actually getting off your butt and doing something.

Here’s the song and the lyrics are pasted below it. Enjoy!

“I head home, the halfway point in between progress and alone
Forever more, I am a faded sweatshirt
You forgot was hanging on the closet door
But it’s the ride, its not the point (you answer back?)
Treating everyday like it could be your last
One day it will, one day it will
And we will praise you at your funeral for this life you tried to build

Spend all my life waiting for a moment to come, to come
Walking single file waiting for a moment to come, but it won’t
I’m halfway to happy now, and I always mistake it for progress

Morning comes, your bed’s a safe place
Your eyelids blocking pain but standing in the way
Stay off the brink, come whatever may
Hope for the best, be okay with anything
Lets get a life, allow ourselves to change
Don’t be convinced everything will stay the same
You’re beaten down, like everyone
But can a person make a difference if he never makes a sound?

I spend all my life waiting for a moment to come, to come
Walking single file waiting for a moment to come, but it won’t
I’m halfway to happy now, and I always mistake it for progress
for progress, for progress

Spend all my life waiting for a moment to come, to come
Walking single file waiting for a moment to come, but it won’t
We all have to test our will, a trial
I’m halfway to happy now, and I always mistake it for progress
For progress, for progress, for progress”
