You’ve heard it many times, but is a picture really worth that much more than text? It appears to be the case, at least in social media…

One of the top tips for successful Facebook posting is always “Use visuals!”

Pictures and videos tend to garner respectively 120% and 100% more engagement than the average post on Facebook.

Pinterest is one of the fastest-growing social networks and is now positioned fourth behind Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn with nearly 49MM users.

When Twitter launched Vine in February, the 6-second video service was quickly adopted by consumers and brands alike, as Vine videos are shared four times as often as other kinds of Internet video!

And the recent launch of Instagram video further proved that video is here to stay

The beauty of these short videos is that they are easy to watch and (obviously) easy to share, making it uncommonly simple to spread your brand message if you can do it right.

It’s no surprise that Google’s YouTube is the third most highly ranked website in terms of visits.

And now there is even a new service launching, Webbitz, that uses a computer algorithm to generate news videos based on text!

So, what does this mean for you as a marketer?

Well, for one, you should definitely embrace imagery if you aren’t already.

If you are a B2C company, post brand-related images in your social media streams and ask your consumers to choose their favorites or add captions.

You can also ask consumers to take Vine or Instagram videos related to your brand as Holiday Inn Express did in their Stay Smart campaign.

If you are a B2B business, post infographics, study graphs and other images related to the types of business you are in.

It’s also great to use video to showcase your workplace so Clients can get a more personal look inside your work environment.

Whatever you do, be creative! The sky is the limit as long as your posts are engaging.
