Have you ever gotten to the point where no matter how hard to think, you simply cannot come up with an “original” idea for your next piece of content? It’s not easy to consistently produce new and good material on a daily basis. Neil Patel states that the number one thing that all marketers struggle with is “Producing Engaging Content”, followed closely by “Producing Enough Content”. That being said, it’s only natural that as a marketer you require a tool or generator of sorts that will you get those wheels turning in your mind. Jonah Berger also expresses that one of the leading forms of content that gets shared is content that provides a practical solution. So in an effort to help fellow marketers with their content writer’s block, I hope that this list of idea generator tools proves useful to your marketing efforts.
1) Klock.Work: Infographic Idea Generator
This idea generator is highly addictive and it’s very easy to spend hours generating fun and absurd titles for your next blog post. Klock.Work is an infographic idea generator. All you need to do is type in a noun and hit enter and you will be presented with hundreds of titles, some useful, some inspirational and some just downright absurd. The great thing about Klock.Work is that it also suggests an infographic style and template that pairs with the title that gets generated. It will suggest what style of infographic pairs best with the title you select and chooses between a statistical infographic, a process infographic, a timeline or a list-based infographic template with appropriate examples.
2) Plot Generator
This is not your conventional marketing generator tool. It is primarily geared towards plot inspiration for a novel or film however it can still prove to be very inspirational if you are hoping to take a more creative spin with your content production. The reason I like to explore tools outside of the “content marketing” ecosystem, is because it can provide you with a new level of insight you may not receive from a tool created by a software company or inbound marketing organization. This seemingly unnamed plot generator works somewhat like Mad Libs. You can choose between a number of different genres including fantasy, science fiction and teen vampire. So if you’re looking to write some holiday themed blog posts, you might find some that this Plot Generator provides you with a new perspective.
3) Portent’s Content Generator
Portent’s is one of my favourite content generator tools mainly because of the added personality. The titles are made up of four parts, and each part has a little explanation to tell you why adding specific text and framing it in a particular way can be a useful strategy. For instance, take a look at the image below. The word I entered was “Infographics”. Portent strategically places the “money word” if you will in the best position for optimal engagement. It tells you why each section is crucial for the title, and what the audience will gain from each part.
4) Hubspot’s Blog Title Generator
Hubspot’s generator is good if you have multiple different topics on your mind and want a range of blog title ideas for the week. It provides you with 5 titles so that you have content ideas for each work day. It seems as though some of the title recipes are recycled, so unlike Portent’s generator, or Klock.Work, many of the titles seem to remain the same with just one of the words modified.
5) Content Forest Idea Generator
If you’re looking for a quick and easy to read list of possible blog titles, then this generator is as simple as it gets. You enter a word and it gives you a couple of pages of possible titles, instantly. This content generator seems to be a bit more intuitive than some of the others, and rather than simply replacing a noun within a sentence, the algorithm used seems to be better at recognizing and defining the word you input by incorporating words that fall into the same ecosystem within the title. For instance, if you enter the word “Dog” here are some of the titles you get.
But if you enter the words “Content Marketing” you can tell that the generator recognizes the meaning of those words since the surrounding elements of the title are different.
It bodes well for you to experiment with all of these generators and find which one is most suitable for you. Each one is unique in it’s own way, so try to jump between which ones you use if you want to generate the widest range of titles.
