On Sunday May 25, Emma Watson graduated from Brown University. According to AP she’ll be receiving a degree in English Literature. Though Watson’s words were much more brief in her excitement:

Watson among her peers set to graduate from Brown University

Watson was enrolled in 2009, but took a hiatus in 2011 to film the rest of the “Harry Potter” franchise. She star has mentioned before that all she’s wanted is a normal college experience. During her press tour for “Noah”, she told the Sunday Times that she was initially concerned about how she would be accepted by her peers. “On the first day, I walked into the canteen and everyone went completely silent and turned to look at me,” she said. “I’d say to myself, ‘it’s okay, you can do this. You just have to take a deep breath and gather your courage.’”

Eventually though she was accepted by her fellow students in no time. She did the things every normal student would do, attended college parties, played games, and most likely drank beer. “I’ve never even been asked for an autograph on campus,” she told US Weekly in 2013. She apparently threw a huge party that nearly 100 students attended, yet still no one acted like paparazzi.

So in doing her famed “Harry Potter” character Hermione proud, she has successfully graduated from not only an excellent institution, but an Ivy League one at that. Turns out she was cast as her character for something other than her talent and beauty. Watson has proven that she can assimilate with non-famous people and earn degree for her hard work off the screen, and congratulations along with a multitude of “Harry Potter” puns are definitely due.
