If Doritos and Mountain Dew sound like an appealing combination to you, you may find that you can get both in one bottle before too long. At a taste-testing party called “Mountain Dew After Dark,” attendees say they sampled the chip-flavored soda.

The flavor was introduced in small taste testing batches at a few selected college campuses, and it first met widespread notice when Redditor joes_nipples shared it online.

Joes_nipples describes the flavor as odd, but not terrible:

It honestly wasn’t that disgusting. It tasted like orange with a doritos after taste. It tasted like straight doritos afterwards though. Weirdest thing I’ve ever drunken.

The overall reaction to the notion of Dorito Mountain Dew was somewhat less positive, though. Most responders seemed to find the idea completely unpalatable.

Contacting PepsiCo, Quartz confirmed that the flavor absolutely exists, and that it was offered to a few sample audiences. Pepsi wouldn’t confirm that the flavor will be in stores anytime soon, though.

We are always testing out new flavors of Mountain Dew, and giving our fans a voice in helping decide on the next new product has always been important to us. We opened up the DEW flavor vault and gave students a chance to try this Doritos-inspired flavor as part of a small program at colleges and universities.

Natably, the Mountain Dew Wikia says that the reverse has previously existed: Doritos flavored to taste like Mountain Dew. If the new soda flavor hits the shelves, maybe the soda-flavored chips will return to the market too. Hosts who want to confuse their guests’ taste buds can purchase both and serve them together.

As popular as the combination may be in their ordinary forms, the world may not be ready to consolidate the two. Would you try Dorito Mountain Dew?
