If you watched the Season 6 summer finale of “Pretty Little Liars” last night, you were either really happy or really mad by the end of the episode. They finally revealed who ‘A’/Charles is, in addition to Redcoat and the Black Widow after leaving fans wondering for five years.
A lot of secrets were also revealed from multiple seasons. Some of those secrets, however, revealed holes and inconsistencies in the entire plot and had fans questioning whether the show’s executive producer I. Marlene King had the entire storyline made up from day one.
But for others, it was the perfect ending after all these years.
Below are some of the biggest, most shocking secrets to be revealed during the finale. And, of course, there are spoilers ahead!
1. Charles is CeCe Drake
2. Bethany Young pushed Mrs. Cavanaugh, Toby’s mother, off the roof but blamed it on Charles

Bethany and Charles were friends in Radley, at least for a while. Mrs. DiLaurentis ended up paying off Detective Wilden to rule it as a suicide. But really, who lets their patients up on the roof, anyway?
3. After the “death” of Charles, “Charles” returned to Radley as Charlotte
Mrs. D pulled Charles out of Radley for a short amount of time in order to metaphorically “bury” Charles. It turns out, Charles is actually transgender, therefore, returns as Charlotte.
Charlotte (portrayed by Vanessa Ray) also dated Jason, her brother, for a while. Mrs. D didn’t even know because she went by CeCe to everyone else but her.
4. CeCe was the one who hit Alison with a rock, thinking she was Bethany
Bethany had snuck out of Radley, with Charlotte’s clothing, intending to hurt Mrs. D. That’s when Mrs. D buried Ali in the yard. Mrs. D never fully forgave Charlotte for what she did.
5. Mona killed Bethany, thinking she was Ali
This finale was pretty much throwing the plot twists in left and right.
Mona had been sending Ali threats beforehand. Again, Bethany was wearing Alison’s clothing, the infamous yellow tank top.
6. Mona was friends with Charlotte in Radley
Mona thought Charlotte was actually Alison because of the drugs she was on. CeCe used her to get information about the four girls, stealing the game from her.
7. CeCe purposely befriended Spencer, Aria, Hanna and Emily
She began terrorizing them because they were glad to have Ali out of their lives.
8. CeCe intentionally set the fire that trapped the four girls and Mona
She wanted to know whether Ali was alive or not so, knowing that Ali would show up if the girls were in trouble, she set the fire at the Thornhill Lodge in Season 3.
9. Sara Harvey is Redcoat AND the Black Widow
Remember this Sara Harvey from the end of “Welcome To the Dollhouse”?
She was no prisoner and not so innocent after all:
10. CeCe planned to blow up Radley after telling her story
CeCe had the button to detonate, but Spencer deactivated the system before she hit it.
Sara was in control of the system and then this awesome moment happened:
11. The game FINALLY ends
Or did it…
After the five-year time jump, which will pick up during the winter premiere, Spencer, Aria, Hanna and Emily come rushing into Mrs. Rollins’ (Alison) classroom and say, “He’s coming for you.”
Who’s he!? Hopefully this secret won’t take another six seasons to be revealed.
The finale also shows the girls about to head off to college: Emily travels across the country to go to school at Pepperdine University; Spencer is, of course, setting off on her journey to Georgetown University and Aria heads off to Savannah.
After those college years end, you’ll get to see the girls in a whole different light:
Sadly, some questions are still left unanswered. At the start of the episode, you see Mr. D and Jason’s bodies being dragged, but CeCe mentioned they were not dead…yet. It’s never confirmed if they made it. They also never really clarified Rhys Matthews’ role—just that he was an unwitting decoy for CeCe.
They didn’t disclose who killed Mrs. D either, which is the major secret that was left unanswered. They never showed the mothers of the Liars getting out of that basement that ‘A’ locked them in either, so who knows, maybe they’re still down there.
Were you happy with the ‘A’ team reveal or not?
