Apple announced their new iPhone about a week ago and is now rumored to be manufacturing a gold iPad Mini 2 with the TouchID sensor. The rumor originates from Chinese tech site DoNews that has posted two photos of what it claims is a champagne-colored iPad Mini 2.
The photos (shown below) feature the new gold color and the TouchID sensor, which is currently featured on the iPhone 5S.
Sonny Dickson, a well-known figure who has shared many accurate pre-release images of Apple products, has tweeted about his own claims regarding the release of the iPad mini. Dickson also shared a photo of a disassembled iPad mini 2 in the “space grey” color, mentioning that the new Mini will be available in space grey, gold, and silver.
While both claims have yet to be confirmed, it seems that there are quite a few similarities between the new iPhone and the possible launch of the iPad mini. The popularity of the iPhone 5S, which is currently sold out until next month, could result in its features and technology being adopted in other Apple devices.
According to Dickson’s sources, the iPad mini 2 would include Apple’s A7 64-bit chip, the M7 motion coprocessor, and 1 GB of RAM, whereas the iPad 5 will have 2 GB of RAM. If these claims are true, then the new iPads would most likely feature the same color schemes as the iPhone 5S.
Apple is expected to unveil it next-generation iPads in October, with many speculating the event to be held on Oct. 15th.
