There’s an old Chinese proverb that goes ‘Tell me and I’ll forget, show me and I may remember, involve me and I’ll understand.’

Video lets users see exactly how your app works, what it does and what they’ll get if they download or buy. This can help sell the benefits of your app and help people understand whether your app will do what they need it to do. Increased user understanding has the added benefit of potentially cutting your support queries — which can’t be a bad thing!

You can also use video to Beef Up Your App Page. With the best will in the world, you can’t realistically expect today’s user to read mountains of text about your app. But a short 1-2 minute video? Much more realistic.

So, in summary, we’d suggest using a video on your website as an overview of your app. You can showcase a 30 second App Preview video with Apples App store, and get slightly more in-depth with a longer demo on the Google Play Store. If you have a more complex app, having a series of how-to videos may also help your users get more out of your app – for example, you could walk your users through certain features and functions.
