As the 2016 NFL season kicks off, Buffalo Bills fans once again wonder if this year will be the year the playoff drought we’ve been enduring since 1999 comes to an end. Younger fans barely remember the Bills’ four consecutive Super Bowl appearances – and others weren’t even alive for them.

The Bills might be the only NFL team that hasn’t made the playoffs this century, but you’d never know it by looking at their fans. Year after year, season tickets sell out in record time, jerseys fly off the shelves, and tailgates begin in the early hours of game day mornings. For whatever reason, we just can’t quit this team.

While heartbreaking moments like “Wide Right” and “Music City Miracle” still haunt us to this day, there’s a sense of new beginnings surrounding the team. With the Pegulas taking over in 2014 and the recent name change from Ralph Wilson Stadium to New Era Field, it seems like only a matter of time before we get back to those glory days of the 1980s and 1990s.

In light of the “New Era” at One Bills Drive, the infographic below takes a look at the key coaches, athletes, and events that have shaped the Buffalo Bills since 1999.
