This past Monday night, we hosted #AtomicChat with special guest Susyn Elise Duris. The topic was How Brands Can Win With Twitter Engagement and it had everyone buzzing about Twitter tactics and strategy. Susyn along with the rest of the chatty community provided their tips and tricks on how they succeed at tweeting. We’ve captured all the best highlights and key takeaways, all after the jump!
During the chat, we talked about how to create and maintain high engagement on Twitter. I’d like to expand on that and show you 3 secrets to creating high engagement on Twitter.
Trust
Become an industry expert and offer valuable information to your followers. When your followers learn that you know your stuff, they’ll trust your brand when they look for their next purchase. A key factor to build trust is to tweet often. You will soon find out that your audience is looking for regular updates, so give it to them! Tweeting often and consistently will keep your brand top of mind.
Earning consumer trust is the holy grail of a successful campaign, according to Nielsen’s latest Trust In Advertising report. It reveals that 84% of people trust recommendations from friends and family more than any other form of marketing.
You know what helps with building trust on social media? Curating content. It helps with thought leadership and you can check out some tips here.
Along with frequency, make sure you are tweeting relevant content. Which brings us to the next point.
Relevant Content
Highly relevant content geared towards your audience will resonate with them. And when it resonates with them, they will be engaged with the content. This means that you have to identify who your audience is so that you can then created targeted tweets that matters most to your audience.
The most useful and engaging content is the most helpful.
Conversation
Here’s the thing: what makes Twitter (the platform itself) so engaging is the fact that you can take part in real-time, global, public conversations with any one, any where, any time.
This is where you can cut through the noise and reach out to customers in growing your fan base but you have to build it first before they come. So what are some good conversation starters?
Join in on a discussion – the best way to dive into a conversation is during a Twitter chat. There is at least a handful of chats happening every day. If you’re ready to jump in, I highly recommend our own #AtomicChat. It’s on every Monday at 9pm EST/ 8pm CST/ 6pm PST and we have a fantastic, engaged, and fun community and we love welcoming new people!
Answer someone’s question – People love asking questions on Twitter. Know the answer to one of them? Tweet them back!
Annotate when retweeting – It’s easy to hit the retweet button and be on your way but take the opportunity to add your own comment to the retweet. This way you’re starting a discussion with the original tweeter, and you’re opening up the conversation to everyone else.
These are just a few ways to create a highly engaged Twitter account. We’ve got some more ideas below!
From our previous #AtomicChat, check out these additional Twitter engagement tips below. Discussed topics include: influencer engagement, broadcasting and listening in this very engaging Twitter discussion.
