I am a SportsCenter junkie. And lately I’ve been seeing a different kind of commercial break.

ESPN‘s flagship show will go to a commercial break, but instead of going to a series of traditional 30 second spots, they’ll go to a Gatorade Inside The Edge short documentary.

These are two minute pieces that go into the training of our American Olympic athletes as they prepare for London.

It’s not hard sell with Gatorade being guzzled down in every shot (although Gatorade is present on and off) – rather, they go into the science of modern athletics by visiting the Gatorade Sports Science Institute.

I personally like watching these little documentaries much more than the same old Geico ads over and over. They’re cool, interesting, and they give you a look behind the scenes at what these elite athletes actually do to be amongst the best in the world.
