If you’re a Blogger wanting to turn your blog into a successful lifestyle and business, then you know that you cannot ignore social media.
It is the place you need to be and invest in order to not only drive traffic to your blog, but reach and connect to the right audience – the people that will love your blog and will become regular readers and followers.
But I know that social media can be confusing , even if you use social media for personal reasons.
Should you be on Facebook? Should you continue to invest on Twitter even if it’s not driving any traffic to your website? And what about Pinterest?
So basically you want to use social media but you don’t want to waste precious time without any results, right?
If this is you, then I’ll tell you next the 5 top social media tips for bloggers:
1. Be Where Your Audience Is
You don’t need to be in all social media networks, most sucessful bloggers in any niche are not. You need to be where your audience is, pure and simple.
So, before you start creating profiles in every social networks, do your research first: research the top bloggers in your niche and see in which social networks they are.
Go on each social network you’re considering and do a research based upon your most relevant keywords and see if you find many posts around those topics.
And also, do not forget online discussion forums. There are discussion forums around every single topic and niche, and it’s a place where the whole of their users are your audience! So, go on Google and type “online discuss forum about (insert your your niche)” and see what comes up.
2. Focus on Your Top Social Networks
Go on Google Analytics: Acquisition-Channels-Social, and see which social networks are driving the most traffic to your website.
Those are the networks you should invest most of your time. If it’s working, it’s for a reason, right!?
This doesn’t mean you should stop using other networks if they’re driving traffic too, but spend more time on the top ones and always keep an eye on the stats, at least once a month because it can change.
3. Invest on Paid Ads for Your Best Posts
Investing on paid advertising is a great option, but only if you use it well.
Most networks like Facebook or Pinterest offer a promoted posts option which allow you to pay to further promote your posts.
So, you want to look at your stats and promote the posts that are already having a lot of interaction (likes, shares, comments, etc). These are the ones that are going to bring you return on investment such as more followers on your social media pages or more traffic to your blog.
Also, make sure you add the right keywords and choose the audience well.
For example for a minimum of £3 on Facebook you can reach up to 5000 users in a single day. Or a promoted pin on Pinterest that is shared and liked will sit on Pinterest forever.
4. Join Blogging Communities and Groups
A great way of knowing which social media networks to use and what’s trendy on each one in your specific niche is to join blogging communities and groups, or even Twitter chats.
Blogging can be a lonely thing, especially if you do it full-time from home, so connecting with other bloggers is a good way to interact with others and also know more about social media.
You can join specific communities in your specific niche or just general blogging groups and communities.
And many of those communitites also do offline meet-ups, which is a great way to connect.
5. Keep an Eye on New Networks
Almost every day there is a new social media network on the block.
Some of them will disappear without you even knowing about them, but others will grow into major channels, like Instagram or Snapchat.
So, keep an eye on new social media networks, especially if they’re in your niche, like a new travel network or a new fashion or cooking channel.
You might want to create a profile there and be one of the first ones to start using it even before it becomes big. This makes me think of Pinterest, all the early users have nowadays hundreds or even millions of followers! So, you’ll never know!
