One of the things that businesses are learning is that stories sell. In some cases, the story behind the service or product is even more important than what the company is offering. If you or your business has a good story, you are certainly going to want to let potential customers, and the entire world know.
Naturally, you are going to want to have the story on your blog. While you might want to have posts that allude to your story on your blog occasionally, you will want to make sure that you have a permanent place for the full details of your story. You could have a separate page on your blog titles “Our Story” or “My Story”, or something similar. Post the full story there. You will find that adding your story as a permanent section of WordPress premium themes is very easy.
Is Your Story Compelling?
Some people might not believe that they have a compelling story behind their business. A quick look at all of the reality shows on television, from Duck Dynasty to American Pickers will show you that interesting stories come from anywhere. Just because you can’t see what is interesting about your story doesn’t mean that others can’t.
If you are unable to write the story on your own, you can always hire someone to do it for you. The story doesn’t have to be a magnum opus – it only has to be a page, and sometimes even less. You need to have enough details so that your customers feel as though they know more about you and your company, as well as your goals and what you want to accomplish.
Never Lie about or Embellish Your Story
Perhaps the most important thing though is that your story is true. Some people might embellish a resume, but if you embellish – or flat out lie – about the story behind your business, it could have even worse repercussions. When people find out that you falsified the story behind your company, they certainly aren’t going to trust anything else about your company.
Why is a Story Important?
People want to have some type of connection with the companies with which they are doing business. They do not want to deal with a faceless corporation. Consider some of the largest and most prominent businesses right now – Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon. Most people will be able to tell you something personal about the founders or owners of those companies. Those owners, and the marketers surrounding them, realized just how important personal stories could be. Use them for your own company.
