Guest Blogging
And Google Friendliness
Today, Matt Cutts, the head of Google’s web spam team (and thus SEO team) answers:
How can I guest blog without it looking like I pay for links?
The big thing that stood out to me in this answer…. was something that many bloggers USED to do and have moved away from…
That of the blog host/owner writing an intro paragraph at the top of the guest post to introduce their acclaimed visitor.
I think that this is right in line with the Authority Blogging model. If you have authority with your audience, and you invite in a “speaker”, it’s simply polite to introduce them. (And if they aren’t awesome enough to be introduced by you, then they probably shouldn’t be speaking to the audience that trusts you.)
Perhaps something to think about when you accept that next guest post!
Remember that guest blogging is about developing, extending, sharing, and boosting authority… if the post doesn’t do t that for both the writer and site owner… then find a better author/blog or do it yourself!
