With all this talk about long form content, you must have a process for producing this stuff, right? In comes 15 minute intervals. Not only will it keep you sane and productive during the workday, you can apply it when producing your meaty 1,000 word blog post. When I say 1,000 words, it seems like a lot on the surface, but in actuality it can be done week after week with a little discipline and planning.
Here’s a step by step process that you can use every day of the week:
Monday: 15 minutes
- Pick the topic, keywords, screenshots, stock images, videos, etc.
- Collect and organize internal links and 3rd party links
Tuesday: 15 minutes
- Write first and second sections
Wednesday: 15 minutes
- Write 3rd and 4th sections
Thursday: 15 minutes
- Write remaining sections
Friday: 15 minutes
- Add screenshots, stock images, videos, etc.
- Proofread, edit, and schedule the post
This should give you a good structure for producing some long form blog posts, but you may be asking why this post isn’t 1,000 words. I will be demonstrating over the next 4 weeks that this process is possible. If you’re not already subscribed, now is your chance to follow me on my 1,000 word blog post journey! Hey Nick,
Writing a 1,000 word blog post may be well suited for some bloggers, but honestly I’d rather break larger posts up into shorter more succinct posts, and link them together. I think they’re easier for visitors to read.
Any thoughts on that?
Liz
Hi Liz,
I think it depends on what the subject is, and who the audience is. For certain subjects, I appreciate a longer post with a more in-depth explanation. I wouldn’t say that 1,000 word posts are for everyone, but they are worth experimenting with. What do you think?
