Personality.
That’s usually a word we use to describe people in “real life” (as in, offline, and away from the Internet marketing world). Most of the time, we don’t want to connect personality per se with anything related to blogging or the like.
The fact of the matter is, developing your blogging personality does wonders for your blog. It makes your blog unique. It sets it apart from anything else. It builds a community, and it will most likely increase your rep and your traffic.
But how does that come to be?
Unique Personality = Unique Blog
There’s no denying the fact that we’re all (very) unique. There’s not quite any two personalities that you could call two peas in a pod. I’m different from you, and you’re different from me.
That’s a good thing.
As you already know, there are in excess of 158 million blogs out there — it’s true. One hundred and fifty-eight million blogs (and growing daily).
When there’s such an enormous number of blogs to choose from, why should anybody read your blog? What does your blog offer that cannot be found anywhere else on the Internet?
Simple. Your personality.
Everything else can probably be found in some other corner of the world wide web. There’s probably quite a few posts very similar to this one around as well.
But there’s something that you won’t find anywhere else on the Internet, save on JRJ Writes and wherever else I have blogged – my unique blogging personality.
What Is Your Blogging Personality?
As it’s not a tangible thing, personality (especially in terms of blogging) is rather difficult to describe.
In essence, it’s the little idiosyncracies and the writing style and the very design and color scheme. Every bit of everything on your blog should exude your personality.
Writing style has quite a bit to do with it. Too many bloggers start out with a very stiff tone, as if they were talking to their boss at work.
Relax. Your blog should read just like you would speak to your best friend (minus the grammatical errors and inside jokes that are sure to be present).
How To Develop Your Blog’s Personality
The easiest way to develop your blog’s personality is to do what you want and how you want it.
Make each of your blog posts unique by writing them in whatever way you want. Add your unique spin to everything you do, whether that’s your blog design, your logo, your text, etc.
In other words, just be YOU.
After all, it’s YOUR personality.
