Every blogger will make a mistake from time to time; however, it is how they overcome those mistakes that will determine their success. Whether you are making a mistake every day or once a month, a mistake is a mistake and you need to know why you are making it and how to correct it. That is where I come in. I want to make sure that you are not making one of the most common mistakes that all bloggers make.
7 Blogging Mistakes You Must Avoid
Writing For The Search Engine – So many people struggle to make their blog successful because they are only writing for the search engines. If this is you, then you need to stop this right away. The problem with only writing for the search engines is that your readers will look at the articles and think they are too wordy or that they don’t make sense. Most of the time people who do this are only going after certain keywords and as long as they rank for those, then they could care less about what the articles sound like.
Writing Useless Crap – How would you like it if I published a bunch of articles talking about a dog down the street or a trip that I am planning in two years? My guess is that you don’t want to hear about that stuff because that is now what I teach here on my site. I have seen many bloggers writing a bunch of useless crap these past few months and I just want you to know that this is what makes people avoid your blog like the plague.
Concentrating On Links – Do you do link building campaigns every now and then? If so, then you are a smart blogger, however, concentrating on links alone is a terrible way to create a worthwhile blog. What I suggest is that you spend a very small amount of time working on links and the rest of your time building up your content.
Not Participating In Comments – I have said this time and time again, you need to participate in the comments section of your blog. If somebody asks a question, then you need to provide an answer. If somebody just answers a question, then you need to thank them for leaving a comment. It is just that simple.
Blogging Once A Month – This is a sign that you are either too busy or don’t care about your readers. I have seen many friends of mine do this and for some of them it works but for others it makes their readers go other places. Just know that blogging once a month is no way to run your blog.
Plastering Site With Ads – I don’t care what kind of site you have; you should never plaster your site with ads for the sake of making money. Now, if you are putting a bunch of ads up and they are actually helping your readers, then this is a good thing. Too many beginners put ads up before they really get traffic to their site and that just takes away from the look and feel of the blog.
Plagiarism – We all know what the word means, however, did you know that you plagiarizing a person’s exact idea is just as bad? I say this because I see a lot of bloggers who are always writing about the same topic as some of the bigger names just hours after the bigger blog published it. Plagiarism is bad no matter how you go about it, but in my experience you don’t want to take somebody’s ideas either because your readers might get tired of seeing the same stuff over and over again.
