When Everyone is Tweeting, Who is Paying Attention?

  • Continuous Partial Attention – love it! As for Unintended consequences, there is always the risk that the attendees might fail to pick up on the key messages of the meeting (or forget them soon after as they were not fully engaged).

However, the other issue that I have poersonally experienced is what it feels to be presenting to a room of people with their heads down over the smartphones/laptops. Even if they are tweeting about the event, there is always the thought that they are answering their emails/updating Facebook etc. I would much rather look people int he eye and see their responses.
