Twitter has been experimenting with so called ‘extended tweets’ for a couple of weeks now. They have officially announced “expanded tweets” yielding more pictures, videos and page previews than previously.
The micro-blogging service has signed deals with partners like The New York Times, MSNBC, Time Magazine, BuzzFeed, Dailymotion and TMZ, so if you click on tweets from one of the official accounts you’ll get a story, video clip or image right there on the Twitter site; there’s no need to go elsewhere. Expanded tweets from the likes YouTube and Instagram remain in place as seen previously.
What do you think of the new Twitter features? How much of your time using Twitter is through a dashboard such as HootSuite or TweetDeck? Let me know your thoughts below.

As someone who spent a fair bit of time on Twitter over the last couple of years and who has a decent following (55,000) I’ve noticed that I’ve been spending less time there, and more on Facebook. All my time on Twitter was through TweetDeck and I rarely even see an actual Twitter page anymore LOL
I think for me the switch was due to quality of traffic (Twitter did indeed send me more, but Facebook traffic was much higher quality for whatever reason)
I think Twitter needs to make some changes and improvements if they aren’t to stall out as far as forward moving progress and momentum is concerned.
