Philly beer lovers prepare for the launch of the first annual Valley Forge Beer Fest being held on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. Featured in the event, which is brought to you by Starfish Junction and BeerHeads.com, the producers of the award-winning Philly Craft Beer Festival, is an incredible variety of beers from the Pennsylvania area, from across the country, and from around the globe.
More than 50 breweries will be at the event serving up samples of their proudest brewing achievements—more than 100 beers in all. Tickets are on sale now and selling quickly.
“It is important for the event to invite the local breweries to join in as part of the festival and we’ve had a great response to this new festival so far from the local beer guys—both from the beer distributor level as well as the local breweries themselves,” Lynda Calimano of Starfish Junction said. “While more will be added as the date draws near, we’ve already heard back from some of the key local players including Sly Fox, Yards, Victory, Appalachian, Lancaster Brewery, Prism, and Boxcar Brewing. It is also important from an attendee experience, to bring some great beers from outside the area as well.”
Festival attendees also have the opportunity to participate in programming led by industry pros and local beer authorities, including Dr. Roger Barth presenting “The Chemistry of Beer Flavor and Beer Styles” and Gary Monterosso, author of Artisan Beer in the seminar, “Beer Myths…BUSTED!” Also, Tom Kehoe, local brewmaster from Yards Brewing Co. will offer a taste of history speaking on “Ales of the Revolution.”
The event will help raise funds for the CBC, Committee to Benefit the Children, a local charity that provides resources for treatment, care and family support to benefit area children with cancer, leukemia and serious blood disorders.
“The producers of the Valley Forge Beer Festival have worked with the local CBC since they launched the award-winning Philly Craft Beer Festival back in 2007. It is important for us to give back to a local Philly charity and the CBC is the perfect charity partner. Their staff is wonderful and the work they do offers hope and assistance to local families impacted by cancer, leukemia and serious blood disorders,” Calimano said.
