Indeed the use of mobile phones has been a necessity for everybody. Just like computers for office work and books for school, almost everyone already owns a mobile phone. Part of purchasing the latest models and a fast connection from mobile networks, some people avail of mobile plans that will suit their needs and getting mobile plan with T-Mobile store turned out to be a bad luck for 42-year-old Jason Codner.

Because he did not get the refund he wanted with regard the mobile contract, Codner raged over the products inside the store by smashing them down one by one, ripping down all wall fixtures, overturning tables and using a fire extinguisher on most of the products already destroyed. It appears in the YouTube video that the shop’s employees were startled to see what had just transpired out of a really mad man like Codner. Customers were also seen in the video seemingly helpless after Codner brought down the entire shop. It was like a “King Kong” scene in a movie where King kong got mad at the people capturing him and turned into destroying buildings, cars and throwing people everywhere. Similarly, Codner seemed to have brought out all his anger against the shop’s owner and brought the matter into his own hands. Codner’s madness went on for several minutes until one of the staff members made a call to security personnel about the incident. When police arrived at the scene, Codner smiled and told them that he was ok and upon being arrested, he calmly went away with them.

People who have watched the incident recorded on video in YouTube commented that Codner could really have loss his patience over the service of T-Mobile that he had all the guts to destroy their stuff. The management of T-Mobile store is currently investigating on the incident and stated that they have watched the video on YouTube. Sadly for Codner, he is charged with public order offenses and criminal damages and is scheduled to appear in court on July 30 at Salford and Manchesters Magistrate’s Court. One of the police officers handling the case of Codner said that the man may have not obtained what he wanted from the mobile contract such as the refund and that the response of a shop’s employee may have caused his anger to burst. Meanwhile, some shoppers present at the scene said that they were in disbelief over Codner’s reaction. They said that he may have been really disappointed to go into smashing things down in the shop because normal customers would just have a really bad exchange of words.

According to a T-Mobile spokesperson, during the havoc, there were seven staff and several customers inside the shop and were immediately escorted out of it when Codner went into an outrage. The spokesperson said that the management is very upset with what happened, not only because of the material damage caused, but for the reputation of their company. Furthermore, the dispute with Codner was about a refund on his mobile contract which the company did not immediately agree because they have to follow the terms and conditions of the contract. The management is currently working on re-opening the store and ensuring more safety standards with regard handling customers.

An irate customer and thousands of dollars in damage was worth not giving him a refund?
This should be happening all over the world! T-Mobile will rip you off if you try to leave them. I was told I had a contract I did not have and have been asked to pay $220. I am waiting on them to proceed so I can file a law suit for damages. We left because of their unauthorized charges on my bill.
Yes, it should be happening all over the world. People are too submissive, they’ll wait like obeisant cows for their turn at taking an abuse in some form or other by over-powerful corporations. Those corporations give customers just enough of what they want to keep them coming back… but thats’ not enough for the money or the crummy customer service. And nothing’s worth the damned contract; you still pay for the phone, but you’re stuck which is what THEY wanted. It’s what all forms of signed-for debt is about, to get the leash on your neck.
T-Mobile has a reputation for quality customer service, but I haven’t seen the proof that it’s better than the other screwball companies in a long time. That, and the unauthorized charges on my bill…
Voting with your $$$ isn’t enough. Vote by making a scene, vote by smashing things! People, including corporations, feel safe to manipulate others and to be rude as hell in a world where everyone’s on camera. That’s why some mayhem is needed, now and again. To remind people they need to be more polite, with everyone, in both personal and business transactions. That’s great that this guy had the balls to do what he did.
