Nikon D800 – Camera Review

Nikon say that ‘Every Photo will astound, Every Video will dazzle’ and I have to say this is completely true. This is one of the most amazing cameras I have used to date and it was well worth all the money because not only could I shoot the perfect stills but also it acted as the perfect hybrid camera when I needed to shoot videos for clients. It produced the highest quality photographs and true HD Video production. Not only was I amazed but the photobook company whom I took the photographs were delighted with the results. You can check out the CaptureMe photographs that I took with my Nikon D800.

Pixels

The D800 has the highest amount of pixels available for a Camera to date with 36.3 million pixels. This means that you can take the highest quality photographs for your clients and achieve the best possible results. This camera is great for taking stills for clients and when displayed on the retina display of my mac they look even more stunning. I also produce a substantial amount of videos for clients and this camera has given the quality of my work a huge boost and allows me to record 1080p HD cinematic quality.

Shutter Speed

The Nikon D800 also has some great shutter speeds of 1/8000 to 30 sec. It uses an Electronically Controlled vertical-travel focal plane, which increases shutter speed to allow you to capture more great photographs. This camera also has a variety of shutter release modes:

  • Continuous low-speed;         1-4 frames per second
  • Continuous High-speed;       4 frames per second
  • Quiet Shutter Release
  • Self-timer mode
  • Mirror-up Mode
  • Single frame mode

Picture control

This camera also gives you control over the pictures you snap. It allows you to choose from the following control settings:

  • Neutral
  • Portrait
  • Landscape
  • Monochrome
  • Standard
  • Vivid
  • Customised for the user

Storage

Another great feature is that you can store not only on SD cards but you can use other storage devices like:

  • SDHC
  • SDXC
  • CompactFlash

This is one of the best weapons I have added to my photography arsenal. It really give it the flexibility use the camera for both photographs and videos. It makes a big difference only having to travel to locations with one camera instead of one for each photo & video.

My advice to any photographers would be that this is the best camera for anyone who is striving to be the best in the industry. With the changes in Google algorithm it can only mean great things for photographers making videos for businesses.
