3 Reasons People Love Google

Tech & Gadgets

Online marketers rely on Google for most of their business. Google drives traffic to websites, thus helping business owners to make sales. In fact, Google is so popular that some business owners rely on a search marketing agency to help them drive traffic to their site.

But why is Google so important? What makes it so popular? Here are three reasons why people love Google.
1. Google has a refined search engine algorithm

Unlike Yahoo, Bing and other search engines, Google’s algorithm is fine-tuned to provide results that are greatly relevant to a user’s search terms. Google tries hard to remove low-quality content from its search results and only show sites that are top-quality and engaging to visitors.

Many people admit that Google shows them what they want to see. This does not come without effort from Google’s end. In February, Google launched a new algorithm change, called “Panda.” Panda’s goal was to remove any website with low-quality content. Many of the content farms, including e-How and eZinearticles were negatively affected by the change. This was great for users who want quality search results, but bad for online marketers who relied on spam and keyword stuffing to make money.

2. Google knows what you want to search for

Google has this feature where it automatically tries to guess what you are searching for, based off popular search terms. For example, if you type “how to” in the Google search bar, the current top results are:

How to love – A Lil’ Wayne song
How to tie a tie
How to love lyrics
How to cite a website

Google uses these trends to try to guess what you want to search for before you type it in the search bar — a convenient feature.

3. Google is diverse

Unlike other search engines, which may only specialize in one or two types of searches, Google has results for any search you perform. From local businesses to tutorials to directions, Google’s interface gives you the top results in a clean and easy to read format. This is especially true if you need directions. Google maps, presents 3D maps with clear route information, drive time estimates and a layout of real-time traffic updates. If you don’t like Google maps, the top result for any direction query will usually be MapQuest.

Google, the number one website on the Internet according to Alexa’s rankings, helps people discover new things every day. Even the vaguest of search terms usually yields the results you need the first time.
