With everything in business, ROI should be considered and social media is no different.
This is a really interesting graphic about social media metrics and what CMOs value, but it’s not exactly named correctly. There is very little data here on the cold, hard cash generated from social media efforts and there is more display of survey percentages of what CMOs believe.
Regardless, these are interesting statistics and should be reviewed to get a pulse and see the direction of the Ms in the C-suite.

Grace-
Charts and stats are so much more interesting than reading a boring blog! :) I think it’s interesting that some companies are deciding to decrease their use of social media. I’m curious to know how much benefit social media is ACTUALLY adding to companies – especially when I feel like twitter is just chaos that isn’t necessarily relevant or important – more just an attempt by people to get their name out there every minute. It seems like social media use can get excessive. There has to be an ideal amount that we all have yet to figure out. Good read!
Hi Kelli!
Thanks for the comment!I definitely agree that social media in some instances is used excessively, but if used right, it can be a vital part of your business strategy. When Twitter first came out, I was definitely skeptical. However, you can now measure your social media ROI to see if it’s working for you. http://info.ottopilotmedia.com/free-whitepaper-determining-social-media-roi
