We’ve been talking about Pinterest a lot on Magnet Stories. A few weeks ago, we shared a very Pinterest-ing (the pun hasn’t gotten old for us yet) Infographic that examines the lifestyles and consuming habits of Pinterest’s 11 million users. A few weeks before that, we offered a free downloadable tip sheet offering 5 tips for your business to find success on Pinterest. We’ve even had Amy Schmittauer do a Magnet Minute all about it.

Do a search for “Pinterest” on our blog and you’ll find a bunch of others. All shameless self-promotion aside, we just hope that your brand is finally starting to pay attention to the new social media giant’s potential for marketing. Users are highly engaged, tend to be very positive, and excited to share.

That said, getting started is a daunting task. Some take a look at the popular topics on Pinterest’s homepage and can’t see how it would work for their brand. Others just can’t stomach having to add another platform to their daily routine of social networking.

That’s why we’re bringing you this wonderful Infographic from Pinnable Business and Dream Systems Media. It shows a whole bunch of quick, easy ways for your business to get started on the fastest-growing social platform with optimized posts that are sure to be seen and shared.

Some interesting points from the Infographic:

  • The file name of the image your upload has a direct impact on how the post gets ranked.
  • Although Pinterest has no limit on the length of images, you should always limit them to 5,000 pixels. If a user has to scroll down to see the whole image, they are less likely to scroll back up and repin or like it.
  • Repins keep the original source link, meaning more traffic to your site. Pinterest also allows search engines to crawl though the boards, helping your site’s SEO.
  • Last July, Pinterest claimed 0.17 percent of referral traffic. By December that number grew to 2.5 percent, and in January was already up to 3.6 percent.
