Two Warning Signs that You Need a Mobile Website Immediately

Mobile & Apps

Getting the attention of customers is one of the hardest things to do today.

And once you have it, you can’t waste it.

People won’t just hand over their credit card information to you the minute they land on your site.

You need to make sure people stick around your site long enough to get a good feel for who you are. So you want them to browse and explore your website.

But today, people are browsing the web on their mobile devices more than ever before.

Mobile interet users will pass PCs by 2015, according to market research firm IDC.

Having a good mobile website is crucial to your customer’s experience. But they can cost thousands of dollars to build.

How do you know if it’s worth the time, energy, and financial investment?

You can quickly answer these two questions by looking at your website analytics.

1. How many mobile users do you have?

Look at your total traffic. What percentage of that was from mobile users? Is it a significant number?

People can find your website on their mobile device a number of different ways. They could find you through Yelp, or discover a link through their favorite social network.

Even worse, websites built in flash won’t work on iPhones or iPads at all.

If more than 10% of your visitors are on a mobile device, then you might want to think about making a mobile version.

2. How interested are your mobile users?

Turning your users attention into interest is an important part of online marketing.

The bounce rate and time on site will tell you a lot about your blogging success.

People will bounce at a high rate if they’re having trouble using your mobile site.

If the site is complex, doesn’t load quickly, and is too difficult to navigate, then users won’t stick around.

So try to determine if the bounce rate for mobile users a lot more than your regular users.

If the mobile bounce rate is over 80%, then you should definately update your mobile site.

Now compare the length of visits between regular web users and mobile users.

Happy, interested people will stay on your site longer and visit more pages. This is important because people have to trust you before they will become a potential customer.

If mobile users are having trouble browsing and finding new pages, then they’ll probably spend much less time on your site.

If the average time on site for mobile users is less than one minute, than it’s time to update your mobile website.

Nice article! A simple HTML mobile site is really all that most businesses need. A nice touch for a blog is a newsletter squeeze page that converts visitors into subscribers.
