Breaking News: Facebook is launching Facebook Camera, a new mobile app, that looks eerily similar to Instagram, the company that they recently purchased for $1 billion.
Why would Facebook purchase Instagram and then launch their own similar application? I asked Justin Brackett and he thinks they did it to prop up their falling stock prices. I’m thinking they might have purchased Instagram prior to launching the app so they have a full monopoly on all camera applications, and to use their technology.
Here is a breakdown of the features:
Make your photos beautiful
Like Instagram, the new Facebook Camera app allows users to add cool filters and crop pictures. This is my favorite Instagram feature and I look forward to testing it out. This will be a deal breaker feature for me.

Check out your friend’s photos in one place
After launching the app, you can check out all of your friends’ photos in one simple interface. You use the swiping motion to see more of a particular album or tap to enlarge photos. Simple.
Unlike instgram, you can share multiple photos quickly using Facebook’s new Camera app. Select the photos you want by tapping the check-mark and then hit post. You can also add a caption, say where you are and tag friends before posting. Another plus! You can also see photos from different camera apps that you friends use. Way to go Facebook!
