How to Market a Business on a Budget

Marketing

Marketing can take up a large chunk of your business’s budget. However there are some creative ways to get the word out effectively, on the cheap.

Marketing can take up a large chunk of your business’s budget, though there are creative ways to spread the word about your business offerings without blowing the budget. The most clever marketing techniques usually involve being creative and trying something new, so think carefully about how you do your marketing, and come up with a plan that actually works without breaking the bank.

Get Friendly Help

The best people to hype up your business are those who love you already, so if you are going to spend money on printing services to make flyers and other marketing materials, make sure you are getting your money’s worth, by thinking carefully about how you distribute them. Make sure all of your friends have copies of your business information so that they can recommend you to their friends, as well as random people who they meet.  If you have customers exceedingly happy with your work, be sure they have a stack of your business cards too.

Posters

Rather than blanket the city with cheap looking posters, you are better off paying a little more for quality posters and trying to have them put up in other shops and businesses. This way your posters will appear a little more legitimate and they won’t be getting torn down like they would on the street.

Your Website

Having a decent web site set up is quite inexpensive these days, and can prove to be one of the best ways to get the word out about your business. If your website is clear, informative, good looking and easy to use, you are more than likely to attract a lot of business providing you can just get people to look you up. The majority of customers these days will find you and make contact either via the Internet or telephone systems.

Hold An Event

If you have a few talented friends, holding an event at your business can be a very effective way to get the attention of potential customers. Having a couple of bands and a sausage sizzle is all it takes, and you will have a crowd in no time. Offering some sort of one day only deal for those at the event will also help those who are curious about your business to take the plunge and give you a try.

Be Generous

While giving away stuff will cost you some money, if you are doing it sensibly, it can be a great way to give back to the community as well as show that your business is a community minded one. There are always extras of certain items at any business, and you will most likely be able to claim any donation as a tax write off, so give a little and you will be doing wonders for the marketing of your business.

Marketing your business is more about being clever than it is about having a big budget. Spending lots doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be effective. Good marketing is about catching people’s attention, so bend your mind a little and see what creative ideas you can come up with.
